Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for a broad range of tasks related to financial reporting, tax compliance, budgeting, and team supervision. Your contributions will be essential to maintaining the financial integrity and stability of the business.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:

1. Financial Reporting

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts
• Produce financial reports that meet regulatory and internal requirements

2. Accounts Management

• Oversee accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll functions
• Ensure timely reconciliation of bank statements and vendor accounts
• Monitor customer collections and vendor payments

3. Taxation & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Kuwaiti tax laws, including VAT, zakat (if applicable), and other regulatory obligations
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies when required
• Prepare required tax returns and financial disclosures

4. Budgeting & Analysis

• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans
• Monitor actual vs. budgeted performance and highlight discrepancies
• Recommend cost-saving and efficiency strategies

5. Team Management

• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
• Review and approve journal entries, expense reports, and invoices processed by the team
• Ensure internal financial controls are followed

6. Audit & Reconciliation

• Conduct monthly, quarterly, and yearly account reconciliations
• Support both internal and external audits by preparing and providing requested documentation

7. Strategic Financial Support

• Collaborate with management to provide insights on financial performance
• Analyze trends and provide recommendations for operational improvements
• Participate in strategic decision-making based on financial data

Qualifications & Experience

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must demonstrate a solid understanding of accounting principles and experience in managing complex financial operations.

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience (preferably in the food, beverage, or retail industry)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level) and experience with accounting software (SAP or similar ERP systems)
• Sound knowledge of Kuwaiti tax laws, payroll regulations, and reporting requirements
• Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)

Preferred but Not Mandatory:

• CPA, ACCA, or similar professional certification
• Familiarity with Arabic is an advantage, but not required
• Previous experience working with hypermarkets or FMCG distributors in Kuwait
• Prior supervisory experience in a finance team
