Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for a broad range of tasks related to financial reporting, tax compliance, budgeting, and team supervision. Your contributions will be essential to maintaining the financial integrity and stability of the business.Your day-to-day tasks will include:
1. Financial Reporting
Required:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts
- Produce financial reports that meet regulatory and internal requirements
2. Accounts Management
- Oversee accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll functions
- Ensure timely reconciliation of bank statements and vendor accounts
- Monitor customer collections and vendor payments
- Ensure compliance with Kuwaiti tax laws, including VAT, zakat (if applicable), and other regulatory obligations
- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies when required
- Prepare required tax returns and financial disclosures
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans
- Monitor actual vs. budgeted performance and highlight discrepancies
- Recommend cost-saving and efficiency strategies
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
- Review and approve journal entries, expense reports, and invoices processed by the team
- Ensure internal financial controls are followed
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and yearly account reconciliations
- Support both internal and external audits by preparing and providing requested documentation
- Collaborate with management to provide insights on financial performance
- Analyze trends and provide recommendations for operational improvements
- Participate in strategic decision-making based on financial data
Qualifications & Experience
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must demonstrate a solid understanding of accounting principles and experience in managing complex financial operations.Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience (preferably in the food, beverage, or retail industry)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level) and experience with accounting software (SAP or similar ERP systems)
- Sound knowledge of Kuwaiti tax laws, payroll regulations, and reporting requirements
- Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
Preferred but Not Mandatory:
- CPA, ACCA, or similar professional certification
- Familiarity with Arabic is an advantage, but not required
- Previous experience working with hypermarkets or FMCG distributors in Kuwait
- Prior supervisory experience in a finance team
